Oftentimes our walk with the Lord mimics the turning of the seasons. We experience times of darkness when we feel as though we’ll never see the light of day, much like what comes to us just before the end of winter. Other times we are rejuvenated by the work of the Holy Spirit and our faith grows and springs up new life. Summers are trying and hot but bring lots of joy and warmth from the sun; pleasant times of just basking in the love and light of Christ. Autumn finds us at the peak of enjoyment. We’re so filled up with goodness and we reap the benefits of a glorious summer. Here we are sometimes tested through our temptations and fears.
Nature holds a plethora of wonderful analogies for life, especially to our Christian life. Taking advantage of those little moments are like golden nuggets for our children, allowing them to experience these truths and understand them more fully.
Children’s Bible Hour recently sent us a new series of books they’ve produced called the Seasons of Faith Series. Based on CBH’s radio scripts, each book teaches a truth about God’s word in a way that children can understand and then apply to their own lives. Just like I spoke above. Sometimes these things are hard to grasp as an adult, let alone in adolescence! I like this series for its simple familiar 
settings. Ordinary events and happenings that we experience all the time are the plots for this new growth. The kids can completely ‘get’ the stories and their moral points.
As for quality, the books are very nice. The illustrations are beautiful and the pages themselves are heavy enough to stand up to my littles’ constant turning. One of my favorite features of these books are the cds. Each title comes with an audio recording of the book being read by “Uncle Charlie”. My smallest child loves to ‘read’ books while the others and I are busy with school work. The cds allow her to hear the stories and enjoy them even when mom can’t sit and read with her.
