This week there’s lots going on around here. Yes, I know it’s already half-way over! : P
Monday we finished up our Middle Ages lapbooks from In the Hands of a Child available at Currclick.. We also used a printable coat of arms coloring page that I can’t seem to find the link for. I tend to lose all kinds of things since I turned 30 – Sorry! But I just googled coat of arms and found some great alternatives. : )
Beans and I have been reading My Father’s Dragon and I love it just as much this time around as I did the first. We are working on the lapbook at Homeschool Share to compliment our reading. Mags has been hanging around alot during school too. She has taken to doing her letter flash cards during Beans’ language arts time. I also have an app on my ipod called ABC Animals she uses to trace her letters.
The olders will be starting Tales of Robin Hood (Library of Fantasy and Adventure Series) and Make This Model Medieval Castle (Usborne Cut-Out Models) this week. We are finishing up Castle Diary: The Journal of Tobias Burgess tomorrow. It was such a cute book! I think they’ve learned as much from it as they have the Usborne Time Traveler. We still have a little room left in the lapbook so we’ll take pictures of the castle and add them in later. I’ve got some things lined up for Robin Hood. I’ll share those in a later post. Dad and I are debating on letting them watch the Kevin Costner version of the movie. Anyone remember that one? I think we’ll need to go back and watch it without the kiddos first because we tend to forget so much about things like that. And no, I don’t mean because I’m 30 – it’s just been about 10 years since I’ve seen it. : P If you have any advice, feel free to leave a comment.
Let’s see… other things going on… The plants are growing well and we have many more to start. Maybe we’ll get a few in this week.
We’re studying pollution so at some point we’ll be cleaning up trash at the park if the rain can spare an hour or two.
Oh, I almost forgot! As a part of our ‘middle ages education’ I’ve downloaded the printable board for The Game of the Goose. We’ll also be trying out a couple of these recipes for a medieval meal.
If you have a favorite middle ages activity or link, leave a comment and link us to it.
Thanks! and don’t forget to enter my giveaway here!
