First, I’d like to apologize for my absence here this past week. The kids and I were in Kentucky having a good visit with family. We got to meet our newest member of the family, Addison Grace (who showed up a month early!). I’m terribly sorry I didn’t get to post. Internet access was not available for most of the week. But I’ve got some good stuff lined up for you this coming month!
If you are a frequent reader of this blog, then you’ve probably noticed the beach-themed button over there to the side that says “I’m a member of the TOS Crew Outward Bound unit”. Maybe you wanna know what that’s all about? Well, I recently accepted an opportunity to review products for The Old Schoolhouse via their Homeschool Review Crew. Basically what this means is that I will get to test out a wide variety of homeschool curriculum and tools, right here in our very own homeschool, and you will get to read about those experiences here. My goal is to give you an inside look at these products – get a glimpse of how they work, what they look like, how they’ve helped my family and could possibly help yours.
Let’s face it, homeschooling isn’t always cheap and one of the biggest anxieties is often just deciding what we think hope will work! Sometimes the actual teaching is the easiest part! No one wants to spend money on a product that looks great only to find out six months down the road that they would’ve been better off accepting that other free curriculum one of the homeschool moms tried to unload at the meeting last spring. That’s a major GRRR! moment. And I know we’ve all had them.
Here’s your chance to look at some of the things – old and new, big and small – available to make learning easier and better for your children. I hope my reviews will be of benefit to you or your homeschool group. If you have any thoughts or suggestions on what you want to know about, please leave a comment. I want these reviews to be as helpful as possible to you.
When I post a review of a product I’ve tested for The Homeschool Review Crew, you will see this banner at the top of the post.
I’ve also got some talk about Sonlight and Workboxes planned for this month, resources to share for the book, The Cricket in Times Square and my first TOS Homeschool Crew review! If you want to make sure you don’t miss any of it, there are a few ways to do that. One is by “Following Me” using the links in my sidebar. There is one close to the top under the tab labeled “Followers”. If you’re on Facebook, you can follow me there using the “Networked Blogs” button at the bottom of the sidebar. Secondly, you can subscribe to my RSS feed by clicking on the little black button with the orange guy reading the newspaper (close to the bottom of the sidebar also). And thirdly, bookmark this site in your browser! Most browsers will allow you to make a button directly on the toolbar for really quick access.
So glad to be back with you this weekend. Expect a review of the TOS Homeschool Planner by Monday. You’ll wanna see what’s inside – it’s pretty good stuff. = )

I liked how you introduced the TOS Crew Reviews & animated the banners. Very nice!
